Andrew Covert, a 2018 graduate of Halfway High School, was recently awarded a $2,500 National FFA scholarship sponsored by Firestone.

Covert is one of 1,829 recipients of FFA national scholarships this year, according to an FFA news release.

He plans to use the funds to pursue a degree at College of the Ozarks.

The 2018 scholarship recipients were selected from among 8,831 applicants across the country, the release said. Selections were based on applicants’ leadership experience, academic record and FFA and other school and community involvement, supervised agricultural or work experience in agricultural education and future goals.
