Movie theater chain B&B Theatres, which owns and operates Bolivar Cinema 5, says the company may have been impacted by a credit card breach.

"B&B was recently made aware of a potential breach in our system," said Paul Farnsworth, B&B Theatres director of public relations.

Farnsworth said the company "took immediate action."

"Our systems have been fully secured and certified as such by third parties, as well as all major credit card brands," he said.

Farnsworth said impacted customers have been notified.

"As a routine part of this process, the card brands have alerted financial institutions, and they have already contacted customers who may have been affected," he said.

The BH-FP asked Farnsworth whether or not patrons at the Bolivar theater have been impacted and if the company plans to offer affected customers compensation, such as credit monitoring service subscriptions. As of press time Thursday, Farnsworth had not responded.
