Pleasant Hope looks to build off a strong effort last week, as the Pirates return home Friday, Sept. 14. The Pirates host 1-2 Sarcoxie in a Southwest Conference game at Pirate Stadium.

The Bears (1-1 SWC) are guided by coach Russell Ellis. Sarcoxie was the Spring River Valley Conference runner-up last season and come off a 13-6 home loss to Pierce City.

Quarterback Haydon Kisling leads the Bears offense, with running back Christian Garrison and full back Kendrick Bass. One target for Kisling is Christian Velasquez. On defense, Bass and Garrison are linebackers, and Kisling and Velsaquez are defensive backs for Sarcoxie. Landon Malotte anchors the Bear lines.

The Pirates (0-3, 0-3 SWC) lost 15-0 at Ash Grove last weekend, battling to the last snap. This is a rare opponent for PH in that they have no recently history with the Bears.

The game kicks off at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Hope Middle School.
