We should all be greatful to the mother for reporting this.

And we should all carry guns to Walmart and the movie theaters from now on.

Actually, the Bolivar Walmart was probably not the smartest place for someone to go on a shooting spree. Lots of good citizens with concealed weapon permits in that neck of the woods.
And if there weren't people carrying in there before, there will be now :)

My heart goes out to his mom. Her attentiveness to her son's mental status as well as being able to gather the strength to turn him in may have saved a lot of lives. Our town should be grateful not only to our police department but especially to this brave mom who took a stand.

            Questions:

            --What was the motive?

--Was he under psychiatric care or taking any prescription medication?

--How were his weapons loaded? Did they have detachable magazines?

Thank God for MOM! She accepted her role as parent and undertook the responsibility of alerting authorities. In this case she may well have saved the lives of others as well as her son's. I'm sure that was not an easy decision.

jcmahaffey - Assault Weapons, I assume you refer to the Federal Assault Weapons Ban list of Semi-Automatic rifles that the Feds took away for awhile. Why is it insane that we, as a country, have the freedom to have guns and actually do own them? Those guns in that ban and every other gun keep our Government someone honest. With out them we would be just another Russia or East Germany that the Government controls all we do and say. Guns, like it or not, keep us as a country free from tyranny of a King or Queen or a dictatorship.

They are 100% not Assault Rifles. Nor were the guns used in Colorado or any of the other many crappy stories you hear about. There is a major difference between an Assault Rifle and what can be easily purchased at Walmart or any other gun shop.

It may look similar to an Assault Rifle such as a Colt AR-15, but it isn't one. Rifles come in many types. If a gun does not discharge more than 1 bullet (2 or more) with a single trigger pull it is not an Assault Rifle. There are a lot of Semi-Automatic rifles that have the same appearance as an AR-15, M4 or AK-47 or any other number of Assault Rifles, but they are 100% not the same.

What this young man purchased was most likely the same gun that can be bought at Walmart the BMI .223 M4 Platform semi-automatic rifle that fires one round per trigger pull.

The anti-gun media fails to understand what the words Assault Rifle means. It makes it sound better for them to sell it if they use those words.

Some day, they will be sued for doing it and then they will start being more accurate on their word choices.

As for the changed story since my first post... Assault Type Weapon? Really? I can make a Fork an assault weapon. So if I were to stab someone with a fork would you call it an Assault Type Weapon?

Call it what it is... the man bought a RIFLE that he planned on doing bad things with.

Why does anyone need an assault weapon anyway? This country is insane.

Well done to the Bolivar Police Department in putting this all together and making the arrest prior to him getting to do this.

Now to the person who wrote this article. I know Det Ross. I know he knows his weapons. There is no such thing as an AK-15 and I very seriously doubt he said anything of the such. The other thing that I want to point about the media in cases like this is that it was not, repeating NOT, an Assault Rifle. There is a difference between Assault Rifle and what he purchased. An Assault Rifle is a gun that can fire more than 1 round per trigger squeeze. What he bought was a Semi-Automatic rifle that happens to have the appearance of an AK-47 or AR-15.
