The Bolivar Police Department is currently searching for a 23-year-old Bolivar man suspected of stabbing a man in the chest Friday night.

According to BPD Lt. Roger Barron, the stabbing took place at around 8 p.m. in the 4000 block of 131st Road in southeast Bolivar following a dispute between the suspect and victim.

The suspect fled from officers on foot, a BPD news release said.

Barron said the suspect is "known to police" and is not considered a threat to the community.

The victim, a 38-year-old Bolivar man, was transported to Citizens Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, Barron said.

Both BPD officers and Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies are searching for the suspect in the area of the incident.

The BH-FP will provide more information as it becomes available.
