What qualities or experiences do you possess that make you more qualified for this office than your opponents?

I fulfill different roles that uniquely qualify me to serve on the Bolivar R-1 School Board.

I am father to five wonderful children who attend Bolivar schools. In that role, I have seen our district’s strengths and have seen areas for improvement. My involvement in my children’s education has helped me recognize that our district’s primary responsibility is to ensure student success. That applies to all students.


I am a business owner. As a partner at Douglas, Haun & Heidemann, I share responsibility to set and follow an annual budget and work to make our business successful within the limits of our business plan and budget. Our school board and district follows this same approach. I participate in hiring decisions. I interview job applicants and see the importance of education in creating qualified job candidates.

I am a lawyer. I am familiar with many of the legal issues that affect our district. Also, I see the tragic consequences suffered by those who did not receive a quality education. As a lawyer, I am a skilled communicator. Board members communicate community values and expectations to school administrators.

I am a community member. When we moved here 10 years ago, a friend said, “Everything is better in Bolivar.” By participating in community and school activities, I have seen the truth of this statement. I have witnessed powerful community support for our district and would be honored to serve on its board. Thank you for your vote.
