The Bolivar Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team wrapped up a 16-0 season Monday night, Jan. 21, at Ozark. BMS also won the Buffalo Tournament last week.

The Liberators capped the season with a 47-35 win over the host Tigers Monday in Ozark.

BMS got off to its usual fast start, up 13-2 after a period on Ozark. The Libs took a 24-7 lead at the break, but Ozark started to claw back into the game in the second half.

The Liberators held off a fourth-quarter rally by the Tigers, despite being outscored 18-12 in the fourth quarter.

Kyle Pock led the way with 29 points, followed by Jack Larimore with nine points. Kaden Griswold posted four points in the road win.

Buffalo Tournament

Liberators 42, Skyline 24

BMS captured the top spot at the Buffalo Tournament Friday night, Jan. 18, blasting Skyline of Urbana 42-24 in the championship game.

Bolivar led 24-2 at the break and held off the Tigers in the second half for the tournament title.

Pock paced BMS with 16 points, with a dozen points by Jack Larimore.

Liberators 39, El Dorado Springs 16

BMS won its pool at the Buffalo Tournament Jan. 17 with a 39-16 rout of El Dorado Springs.

The Liberators blanked the Bulldogs in the opening period 9-0 and took a 20-1 lead at the break.

Pock posted a team-high 13 points for Bolivar, followed by Larimore and Jaxson Jones with eight points each.

7th: Ozark 48, Liberators 11

The seventh-grade Liberators fell 48-11 at Ozark Monday night, with a weekend tournament left for BMS.

Ozark took a 15-4 lead after a period and were up 28-6 at the half. The Tigers outscored the Liberators 20-5 in the second half.

Trenton Patke led BMS with six points, followed by Damean Young with three points and Seth Martin at two points.

Buffalo Tournament

Camdenton 41, Liberators 36

The Liberators had to settle for the silver at Buffalo last week, after falling 41-36 to Camdenton in the championship game Friday night at the Buffalo Tournament.

BMS had a good start, leading the Lakers 13-7 after a period and taking a 20-18 lead to the half. Camdenton overtook Bolivar in the second half, up 29-27 after three periods and holding off BMS in the final stanza for the tourney title.

Young paced BMS with a dozen points, followed by Drake Durham with nine points.

Liberators 46, El Dorado Springs 34

Bolivar punched its ticket to the title with a 46-34 win over El Do in the semifinals last week.

Both teams got off to a slow start, with Bolivar holding a slim 3-2 lead through a quarter. The scoring picked up in the second quarter, with BMS holding a 18-9 advantage at intermission. The Liberators maintained the gap in the second half to advance to the title game.

Two BMS players hit double figures, led by Young with 15 points. Patke added 13 points.

The seventh-grade Liberators (9-4) cap the season at the at the Clever Tournament Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25 and 26.
