CIRCUIT COURT ACTIONS

The following actions were taken last week in Polk County Circuit Court. Dollar amounts listed are for fines only; court costs are in addition to the fine. Amended charges were amended by the prosecutor.

Cases heard by Associate Circuit Judge John C. Porter:

Eric Edward Arnold, born 1976, Jefferson City; probation violation; probation revoked and ordered to serve 10 years in prison. Arnold was originally placed on probation in July 2017 for class B felony attempt to manufacture a controlled substance.

Stacey D. Bair, born 1985, Springfield; class D felony possession of controlled substance; five years prison, suspended, five years supervised probation, $300 LERF and $150 lab fee.

Margaret R. Bennett, born 1981, Cabool; class C felony passing bad check - $500 or more; five years in prison, suspended, five years supervised probation, $363 restitution, $300 LERF, and eight days shock detention with credit for time served.

Charles Christopher Fonteneau Jr., born 1990, Flemington; class E felony assault - third degree; seven years in prison to be served concurrently with other sentences with probation possible after 120-day shock detention; class E felony resisting arrest; seven years in prison to be served concurrently with other sentences with probation possible after 120-day shock detention

Meagan Ann Garrett, born 1980, Bolivar; probation violation; probation revoked and ordered to serve six years in prison with probation possible after 120-day shock detention. Garrett was originally placed on probation in July 2015 for class C felony possession of controlled substance.

Kurtis James Garver, born 1985, Flemington; class C felony possession of controlled substance; four years in prison; class E felony resisting arrest; four years in prison to be served concurrently; class D felony possession of controlled substance; four years in prison to be served concurrently; probation violation; probation revoked and ordered to serve three years in prison. Garver was originally placed on probation in December 2015 for class D felony resisting arrest.

Michael Eugene Hacker, born 1958, Joplin; class D felony possession of controlled substance; six years in prison, suspended, five years supervised probation, $300 LERF and $150 lab recoup fee.

Ricky Ken Herbert, born 1969, Bolivar; class D felony possession of controlled substance; five years in prison; class D felony burglary - second degree; four years in prison.

CRIMINAL CHARGES

The following new felony charges have been filed in Polk County Circuit Court:

Tina Marie McConnell, born 1971, Buffalo; class D felony possession of controlled substance; warrant issued; $7,500 bond.

Stephanie R. Mowery, born 1988, Bolivar; class E felony non-support, total arrears in excess of 12 monthly payments due under order of support; warrant issued; $500 bond.

Terry Lee Garner, born 1984, Springfield; class E felony driving while intoxicated – persistent; warrant served; $5,000 bond posted; due in court Aug. 22.

Brandon Scott Searl, 31, Colorado Springs, Colorado; class D felony stealing; bond not yet set; due in court Aug. 8.

Elena Marie Ornelas, 34, Pueblo, Colorado; class D felony second-degree burglary and class D felony stealing; bond not yet set; due in court Sept. 19.  

Robert Carl Louis Register, 19, Warsaw; class D felony stealing; bond not yet set; due in court Aug. 27.

    •    A 31-year-old man was arrested in Hickory County on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

    •    A 19-year-old man was arrested in Hickory County on suspicion of first-degree robbery.

    •    A burglary was reported in the 1000 block of West Jackson Street.

    •    An overdose was reported in the 500 block of South Chicago Avenue. A female was later transported for medical evaluation.

    •    Ashley Nicole Schuler-Ugolini, 23, was arrested on a warrant on West Walnut Street.  

    •    A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of simple assault on North Chicago Avenue.

    •    A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sale or use of fireworks on West Jackson Street.

Wednesday, July 18

    •    Past property damage to a vehicle was reported in the 2400 block of South Springfield Avenue.

    •    A past assault was reported in the 600 block of West Olive Street.

Thursday, July 19

    •    A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault near South Albany Avenue and East Austin Street.

    •    Melissa Estelle Evans, 38, was arrested on a warrant on Boonville Avenue in Springfield.

Friday, July 20

    •    An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia near West Jackson Street and South Claude Avenue.
