Bolivar wrestling hopes to fill an entire wing of a Columbia hotel next week. The Liberators head north for the two-day, Class 2 District 3 tournament at Clinton, starting Friday, Feb. 9.

Bolivar sent eight to the Missouri State High School Activities Association wrestling championships last year. The Libs finished 13-5 in duals and added titles at the COC Small Division and Grandview tournaments.

Wrestling starts at about 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, with the first-round matches. First-round consolation follows at 7, then the quarterfinals a half-hour later.

Action resumes the next morning at 10 a.m., with the second-round consolation. The semifinals and third-round consolation matches start about 11:30, then the always exciting consolation semifinals, or bubble round, at 3 p.m.

The district championship and third-place matches round out the weekend starting about 4:30 p.m. This schedule is tentative and rounds may begin earlier than listed here.

The district itself promises to challenge the Liberators. The field includes Boonville, Cassville, host Clinton, Eldon, Hollister, Logan-Rogersville, Monett, Nevada, Odessa, School of the Osage, Pleasant Hill, Reeds Spring, Kansas City Southeast and Southern Boone.

The MSHSAA Wrestling Championships start Thursday, Feb. 15, at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
