CMH opens CMH Health & Wellness Clinic March 4

Citizens Memorial Hospital launched a new medical clinic March 4. The clinic provides wellness visits for patients without a primary care provider and hospital transitional care services for patients without primary care support.

BOLIVAR, Mo - The Bolivar R-1 School District is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael Methvin as its new superintendent. Dr. Methvin brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in educational leadership to his new role.

Thursday, Feb. 8, BIS hosted their annual Valentine's Daughter dance. The event brought little girls with their 'dates', ready to dance, snack and enjoy themselves...during their Barbie era. 
Election

Aldermen Take Their Oaths

Aldermen are sworn in during the April 11 meeting. 

Due to the Elections on April 2, the Aldermen meeting was moved from its usual Tuesday to Thursday evening. The session began with the approval of the elections followed by the swearing-in ceremony for the four Aldermen elected at the beginning of April.

Revival

Bolivar Pentecostal Church of God will be in revival with Evangelist Steve McKnight from Thibodaux, Louisiana. Sunday, April 28 through Wednesday, May 1. Sunday services will be at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday will be at 7 p.m. nightly.

Tractor Pull

Halfway Senior Class Project Graduation Tractor Pull will be Saturday, April 20, starting at noon. The pull will be held at the Polk County Fairgrounds, Bolivar.

PCGS memorial flowers

The Polk County Genealogical Society (PCGS) will once again be offering the service of placing flowers on graves for Memorial Day. Orders may be made through May 3. The choices will be either a small spray placed by the stone or a saddle placed over the top of the stone. The cost for the saddle is $50 and the bouquet is $20. Deliveries can be made to cemeteries in Polk County.

Open Hearts UMC announces scholarship available to Polk County students

Open Hearts United Methodist Church, Bolivar, has announced the first $5,000 scholarship to be awarded from the Hegle Scholarship Fund established by a donation from former Bolivar businessman Weldon Hegle.

Friends of the Polk County Library will once again hold their spring book sale on Friday and Saturday, April 26-27, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the library in Bolivar.

Liberator boys tennis continues to march forward. After a convincing tournament win at Warrensburg, the Liberators returned to their amazing home court to host their own tournament.

Liberators Fall in Final, Look to Learn from Loss

The Lady Liberators entered the Willard Tournament last Friday, April 12 as the defending champions, anticipating a possible re-match of the 2023 championship with the home team. Bolivar easily dispatched Neosho and McDonald County in two 8-0 matches Friday, securing their spot in the title game Saturday with Willard. Bolivar defeated Willard a week prior in penalty kicks at home after a 1-1 tie forced two overtime periods. As expected, the re-match was an intense battle on the pitch before the Lady Liberators fell in a 0-1 loss on a penalty kick in the final seconds.

Lady Liberators Work Overtime (Again) for the Win

The Lady Liberators were back on their home pitch last Thursday, April 4 to face Willard after dropping their first loss of the season at Springfield Central earlier in the week. For the second time in three days, Bolivar extended play Thursday night through two overtime periods with games decided in penalty kick shootouts.

Liberators sectional dreams dashed by Father Tolton 73-36

On Tuesday, March 5, the Bolivar Liberators were looking to bring the amazing energy and teamwork that powered them through the district tournament to the state sectional game with Father Tolton Regional Catholic High School of Columbia.

The Lady Knights of Polk County Christian School were recognized as state champions in division 4 for the girls Missouri Christian Schools Athletic Association ( MCSAA) basketball state championship.
The third seed in District 10 Class 4, the Bolivar Liberators challenged their neighbors the Buffalo Bison (4-20).
The Shuler family is excited to announce that Connor Shuler, a Pleasant Hope High School ‘24 graduate, will be continuing his basketball career with Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.
Thursday, Feb. 22, the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats (23-3) rolled into Bolivar to compete in the last regular season game for both teams.
