Polk County Genealogical Society

This Nov. 11, the Polk County Genealogical Society (PCGS) will be honoring Veterans with a display of carnations on the front steps of their building. Individuals will have the opportunity to purchase a carnation to honor a veteran. A card will be attached to the carnation with the veteran’s name and service information. Then PCGS volunteers will place the carnations on the steps of the PCGS Research Facility early on Nov. 11. Any veteran whether living or deceased may be honored.

There are two purposes with this project. First, and most importantly, is to honor the veterans who have sacrificed for the United States with their time and in some cases with their lives. Also, this is a fundraiser so PCGS can continue to promote genealogical research and preserve the history of Polk County

The Polk County Genealogical Society is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Polk County Genealogical Society may also be reached by telephone at 417-777-2820.
