In the earliest horse shows (1947, 1948) Bolivar High School band members provided music under the leadership of a pianist of professional quality whose last name was Shell. I recall that one of the skilled horsemen in the Tennessee Walking Horse category was Kenneth Bruce of BHS class of 1949 who still lives in Bolivar. It was a spectacular summer event back in the old days!
