Citizens Memorial Hospital Therapeutic Touch Center massage therapists Lindsay Choate and Lacey Berry recently became certified in cupping therapy.

Located at 2001 W. Broadway, Bolivar, the center is open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Cupping therapy is a technique that uses small cups as suction that are placed on the skin to create negative pressure. According to a CMH news release, benefits include loosening muscles, improving the immune system, relieving back and neck pain and reducing fatigue.

Facial cupping uses smaller and softer cups that are placed on the face to gently massage the skin, the release said.

“The increase of blood flow allows the skin to become rejuvenated, strengthen skin and connective tissue, relax muscle tension and increase oxygen rich blood circulation,” the release added.

Introductory prices are good until May 31: facial cupping, $40 (30 minutes); express cupping, $40 (30 minutes); and massage with cupping, $75 (1 hour, 30 minutes).

Massage Therapists Choate, Berry and Krystal Quinn also provide massage therapy services, including cranial sacral therapy, deep tissue massage, hot stone massage, prenatal massage, trigger point therapy, seaweed body wrap and Swedish massage.
