The 4-H Annual Soup Supper and Dessert Auction was held on Saturday, March 1, at the Polk County Fairgrounds. It was a great success! Around 80 people came and about $2,000 was raised to support 4-H in Polk County. Many of the 4-H families donated soups and desserts. The desserts were auctioned off by Zach Artz who donated his time. Thank you to all who brought desserts, to all the sponsors for the YETI cooler, and to all who attended. more
It is hard for me not to give into a severe dose of Spring Fever when the temperatures cooperate with that notion several days in a row. My youngest grandson, Kolin, shares my enjoyment of planting seeds and watching them grow. He already thinks we ought to be spending some time in the greenhouse. He knows that I am always saving containers to use to start plants in, so he also has an eye out for such things. After enjoying his Lunchable the other day, he smiles and tells me he has an idea for his empty Lunchable container. Off he goes to rinse it out and then place it upside down to drain. He was pretty pleased with himself and I was equally proud of him. Reduce, reuse and recycle. At four years old, he is getting a great head start on at least one of the 3Rs…reuse! more
The Bolivar CTA is hosting the annual School Board Candidate Forum on Tuesday, March 25, in the Bolivar board room at the Central Office. The forum will begin at 6 p.m. with general questions, break for a meet and greet with the candidates, then conclude with submitted questions and closing comments. more

The Polk County annual Livestock and Forage conference will be held Monday, March 24, at the Sacred Heart Church, 1405 W Fair Play Street, Bolivar. The evening will begin with a complimentary dinner at 6 p.m. more

On Saturday, March 8, the annual JAG Princess Tea Party made a lot of little girls' dreams come true. Getting to meet their favorite fairy tale figures, enjoy refreshments, games and activities to take part in and picture opportunities made for a very exciting morning. more
The Polk County Democrats will be meeting on Monday, March 17 at 6:30 pm at Basil & Bourbon. Social hour and dinner for those who wish to do so will be from 5 to 6:30 pm. The guest speaker will be Will Westmoreland, Political Strategist and previous POCODEMS Chair. Will has vital information and insight to share concerning the current political climate and issues that concern us locally. more
