Twenty-two-year-old Tara Shields was arrested on charges of assaulting her grandfather. On March 13 at 8:15 p.m., Deputy Adam Bays responded to the residence where Shields’ grandfather stated the suspect punched him multiple times in the face and forearms. Though he did not sustain serious injury, Shields was arrested by the responding officer. The suspect then punched Bays in the left side of his face during the attempted arrest and would not listen to the orders she was given. Once in custody, Shields assaulted another officer, Deputy Jailor John, punching him in the chest and kicking his leg, when he attempted to remove her from the booking bench. more

On Tuesday, March 5, at 9:45 a.m., Trooper M.J. Owens responded to a crash on Route B, five miles north of Bolivar. The accident happened as David Honer, 54, of Wheatland, failed to yield and drove a 2004 Jaguar Type S vehicle into the path of a 1990 Ford F-150, driven by 35-year-old Alec Bell of Bolivar. Honer was seriously injured and was transported to Citizens Memorial Hospital via ambulance. Bell did not sustain any injuries in the wreck. Both drivers were wearing safety devices. The Ford and the Jaguar were totaled in the incident and were towed from the scene by B&B Wrecker of Bolivar. more

Joseph Kyle Davolt, 28, of Polk County, is facing six counts related to a Domestic Disturbance in Morrisville. According to the Probable Cause Statement, on Friday, Feb. 23, a fellow citizen heard Davolt and his wife arguing. The Polk County Sheriff's Office was called around 7:16 p.m., once the neighbor heard the woman state, “Ow, that hurt!” more

According to the Fair Play police department, on Saturday, Feb. 17, shortly after midnight, three males arrived in front of Fair Play City Hall and threw rocks at the front door and then through a front window. The suspects then left but returned shortly with a stop sign they had picked up from Troost and 2nd Street and threw the sign through the back door. Extensive damage was done to the building. more
The Kansas City Chiefs' win over the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on Feb. 11 was a cause for celebration for thousands of fans throughout Missouri. Bolivar had its own share of loyalists who reveled in the heady high of victory. Two such die-hard fans were mother and son, Paula and John Hubbert who made the two-hour drive to Kansas City to see their team’s pep rally and parade. more
