A warrant has been issued for a man from Halfway who faces felony charges after allegedly punching a woman in the head repeatedly and shooting her with a BB gun.
According to online court records, Jason Anthony Cunningham, 42, is charged with class B felony first-degree domestic assault in Polk County Circuit Court.
The probable cause statement said the woman told deputies Cunningham had been living at her residence in the 1900 block of Mo. 64 “for about five days,” and the two were in a relationship.
On June 20, Cunningham “began to verbally abuse her, and it ended up becoming a physical matter,” the statement said.
The statement said the victim had “15 to 17 bruises, bites and abrasions on her body and had also been shot with a BB gun where the pellet penetrated her skin.”
She said her “most severe injuries” were from Cunningham punching her on the right and left side of her head multiple times.
On June 22, the woman was evaluated by staff at Citizens Memorial Hospital, who stated she had a concussion. CMH also took X-rays of the wound caused by the BB gun and found a pellet lodged in her thigh, the statement said.
As of press time, a warrant, which carries a $75,000 bond, has been issued for Cunningham’s arrest.
