With June’s fifth Sunday approaching, several area churches have announced plans to hold services and singing.

Old Brighton Methodist

The old Brighton Methodist Church will host a fifth Sunday singing and worship service at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30.

Pastor Rex Warren of Fairview United Methodist Church will deliver the message.

Updates on the restoration of the church will also be discussed.

All are welcome to attend.

Polk Co. Missionary Baptists 

Polk County Missionary Baptist Association’s fifth Sunday services will be held with Red Top Missionary Baptist Church.

At 7:30 p.m. Friday evening, June 28, a devotional will be by Elder Donnie Lane. The sermon will be by Elder Dillon Legan.

Bro. Jeremy McMillan will give the devotional at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29, with a sermon by Elder Efton Piper.

The Sunday, June 30, service will feature Elder Bryon Smith in the morning and Elder Mike Owens in the afternoon.

Tri-County Baptists

The Tri-County Baptist Association will host its regular Fifth Sunday service on Sunday, June 30, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Jasper County.

Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. 

At 11, Bro. Devin Orbin will bring the message. 

After a basket dinner on the grounds and a business meeting, Bro. Zane Durnell will preach the afternoon sermon.

Rondo Baptist Church 

Rondo Baptist Church will hold its fifth Sunday singing at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 30.

Members of neighboring churches in Elkton — Elkton Christian Church and Elkton Baptist Church — will join in the event. 

Refreshments will be served.

The church is east of Mo. 83, 12 miles north of Bolivar, on East 340th Road.


Southside Missionary Baptist Church will host its fifth Sunday singing on Sunday, June 30, starting at 6 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the service.

The church is located on the corner of South Lillian Avenue and West High Street.
