Community Outreach Ministries’ Sonic card fundraiser will draw to a close at the end of this month, according to public relations liaison Krista Nebel.

The $5 cards, which COM says represent $25 in savings, are available at Bank of Bolivar’s main and west branch, Commerce Bank, OakStar Bank, Mid-Missouri Bank, Farmers Bank and Polk County Health Center.

Nebel previously told the BH-FP the organization hoped to sell 400 total cards and add $2,000 to its benevolent fund.

“The funds will go into the  benevolent fund to be used to help Polk County folks throughout the year,” she said. “Since the beginning of 2019, COM has helped many Polk County residents with utility bills, medical prescriptions, temporary hotel stays, fuel costs, food costs — all of those expenses that can flatten people when they are trying to get back on their feet."

COM’s Kim Wilson said the proceeds will help the organization “fill the gap between the Salvation Army spending period that ends in September and doesn't start again until Jan. 15."

COM plans to make the card sales its annual spring fundraiser, Nebel added.
