Donald Marion Mitchell, 74 years of age, formerly of Aldrich and Willard, passed away Monday June 17, 2019, in Mansfield, Texas.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, at Aldrich United Methodist Church in Aldrich. The Rev. Bill Peters will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aldrich.
Donald was born June 24, 1944, in Springfield to Marion Mitchell and Betty Tygart Mitchell.
He was saved and baptized in August 1957.
Don served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966.
He then returned to Missouri and started a career as a certified Master Grinder for the Paul Mueller Co., where he worked for 38 years.
Don enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, genealogy and playing card games.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Alice Prudhoe Mitchell.
He is survived by his brothers, Ronnie, Jimmy, and wife Linda, and Johnny, and his sisters, Kathy and husband Bob Frye, Karel and husband Mark Jeffries. He was the father of Larry Mitchell of Aldrich, Chad and wife Mindy Mitchell of Mansfield, Texas, and Cory Mitchell of Springfield. He was married to his second wife, Carolyn Choate Mitchell of Willard and was stepfather to Marsha and husband Steve Grisham of Morrisville and Bill Perkins of Willard. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jacob Mitchell, Jadyn and Alexandra Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Emily and Shawn Grisham, Corey Kaitlyn and Dallas Perkins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alice Rose Mitchell scholarship fund at Southwest Baptist University.
