In 2005, Dr. Leonid Shunyakov came to the Central Care Cancer Center in Bolivar to begin working as an oncologist/hematologist. He is a well-known healthcare professional in the community, having served many Polk County patients. He is involved in Central Care Cancer Center’s fundraising events, which he says are always a lot of fun. more

CMH presented a $23,815 check to Don Garrison, RT, CMH Missouri Sleep Institute, and his family on Monday, March 13. Don’s daughter, Moxie, has Marfan Syndrome and is scheduled for a life-saving open heart surgery in London next month. Donations were given by Citizens Memorial physicians, staff, volunteers, board members and friends of the organization. more

The Polk County Genealogical Society (PCGS) will once again be offering the service of placing flowers on graves for Memorial Day. Orders may be made from March 1 through May 1, 2023. The choices for flowers will be either a small spray placed by the stone or a saddle placed over the top of the stone. The cost for the saddle is $50 and the bouquet is $20. Deliveries can be made to cemeteries in Polk County. more
