Thursday, Sept. 28 saw important people from Bolivar, surrounding areas, and throughout the state gather at the parking lot of CMH for the groundbreaking ceremony for the hospital’s 117 thousand square foot expansion building. The addition will add an operating room, nine ER rooms, two cardiac units, an expanded cafeteria, and labs. more

Bolivar tennis had a very long and hard season this year. The Liberators were able to squeeze out wins from matches that had seemed lost. Monday’s match against Republic was one that the team was unable to get over the hump losing 4-5. Getting wins for the Liberators was Kami Bryan and Emma Goodman as the #2 doubles team, and Bryan also won her singles match 8-2. Also getting wins in singles was Jillian Horner at the #4 spot with a hard fought tiebreaker winning 9-7, and Goodman wins at the #5 spot 8-5. Republic has a very hard and talented team from top to bottom. more

Center Stage Dance Academy dancers were invited to perform at the Nascar 75th Anniversary Cup Series at the Kansas City Speedway on Sunday, Sept. 10. Terri Kirksey, owner of Center Stage, received a call from Nascar in April asking if they would like to perform at Nascar, and she was very excited to have this amazing opportunity for her dancers. Terri hand picked a group of students that were dedicated and up for the task of working hard for hours a day during summer break to put together a great show. The girls worked many hours every week during the summer to perfect a 15-minute non-stop routine that was race car themed for the Nascar opening ceremonies. more

Celebrate homecoming today, Sept. 22. Enjoy the annual homecoming parade, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Bolivar High School and making their way to the square. The Liberators take on Glendale at Plaster Stadium at 7 p.m. The coronation ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. before kick-off.  more
Community Outreach Ministries (COM) is hosting their second annual “Polk County’s Got Talent” fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 23, at Bolivar High School at 6:30 pm. A spinoff of the popular television talent show, America’s Got Talent, the fundraising event will highlight the talent of ten local individuals and groups. The event benefits Community Outreach Ministries which seeks to alleviate food insecurity in Polk County through their food pantry and community development programs. more

Saturday, Sept. 10, was the perfect day for the annual Country Days event. There was something for everyone, numerous vendors, food to please everyone, entertainment on the streets and games for youngsters to enjoy! The square and adjoining streets were overflowing, the event just gets bigger and better every year. The Downtown Bolivar Association and all the volunteers worked long hours to bring the community another outstanding and fun day to the community. more
As the sun set on a hot and sunny August evening, anticipation filled the air at Bolivar Technical College (BTC). Students, both new and returning, eagerly awaited the commencement of the fall semester, which officially began on Aug. 28. However, the excitement didn't just start with the first day of classes; it was ignited the week prior during the college’s well-organized orientation program. more
Liberator soccer prevailed in their match at home against Rolla on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The team showed fantastic perseverance throughout a physical game. Headed by seniors and captains Jonathon Peters and Ben Tull the defense withstood Rolla’s aggressive offense. Standing out with many crucial saves to secure the overtime victory was sophomore goalkeeper Wyatt Viles. more
