Church directory

Readers of the Bolivar Herald-Free Press will notice a new addition to the Wednesday edition, beginning with the July 10 issue — a completely redesigned church directory that includes expanded church listings and a weekly featured church.

BH-FP Publisher Jamey Honeycutt said the goal for the directory is to be “the most complete and most accurate church directory ever compiled in Polk County.”

“Bolivar is a great community that allows faith to flourish,” he said. “We are grateful for churches that meet the spiritual needs of our community. We don't take that freedom for granted.”

With that in mind, he said, BH-FP staff has “devoted our efforts to give our churches an improved space, format and exposure to connect with our county via both print and online.”

Directory details

Beginning with today’s issue, the directory lists more than 100 local churches at no charge.

It features a local church with a full color photograph each week.

The directory can also be viewed here, on BolivarMoNews.com.

A free listing can include basic information, including the name of the church, address and phone number.

For churches wishing to provide additional information, enhanced listings are available.

To launch the directory, the BH-FP partnered with Burchett Media Inc.

Wally Burchett, a former newspaper publisher/owner who says his company currently works in association with 77 newspapers in seven states, said the finished product speaks for itself.

“From the first moment Jamey and I discussed this project, I could quickly see how much pride and passion he has for both their newspaper and Polk County,” Burchett said. “He has made a substantial commitment with the inclusion of full process color and internet access with every week’s directory.”

Burchett added that in his “professional opinion,” the directory is “one of the best presented, most content rich” church directories he has “ever been associated with.”

None of this would be possible without the participation of local business sponsors and churches, Honeycutt added.

Kim Robertson, who led the sales effort, expressed her appreciation to all involved.

“I’m thrilled to have contributed to such a wonderful project,” she said. “We still have a few spaces available, and I welcome discussing potential participation with any business.”

More information

The new directory, complete with information provided by the churches, replaces the previous church listing page, which appeared in Saturday editions of the BH-FP.

To complement it, the BH-FP’s faith and family page has also moved to the Wednesday edition.

The milestones and agriculture/outdoor pages will now appear in the Saturday edition.

Churches are encouraged to submit — at no charge — announcements regarding upcoming events, church news and activities for publication on the Wednesday faith and family page.

Content may be sent to the BH-FP newsroom via email to news@bolivarmonews.com
