it can wait

For the third year, the Bolivar Herald-Free Press is partnering with the Missouri Press Association and AT&T to host the “It Can Wait” editorial contest to raise awareness about smartphone-related driving distractions.

Participating students may write an essay or produce a video with transcript about the dangers of distracted driving. Entries should answer the question, “What is the most persuasive argument to convince people not to drive distracted?”

The contest is open to all local high school students.

Entries may be emailed to news@bolivarmonews.com. Submissions must be received by Monday, April 15.

The BH-FP editorial staff will select one local winner from each category. The winning essay will be published in an upcoming issue of the BH-FP and the winning video will be featured on the newspaper’s website and social media.

Local winners will also advance to the statewide contest.

Statewide winners will be awarded $1,000 for the essay portion and $500 for the video category.
