Open for fitness
After its doors were shuttered in March 2020, the former Bolivar Roy Blunt YMCA building saw new life and activity this week. On Monday, Jan. 4, the City of Bolivar formally unlocked the building’s doors and welcomed the community to use the now open Bolivar Recreation and Aquatics Fitness Center. The city finalized its purchase of the lease on the building and its fitness equipment from the Ozarks Regional YMCA for $575,000 in October. On Thursday, staff at the center, located at 1710 W. Broadway Ave., said around 50 people had signed up for memberships so far this week. Find more information about the center online at bolivar.mo.us/parks-recreation3/.
