A few days before Christmas just seemed like a good time for a reunion for five Polk Countians, all Polk County sheriffs at one time in their careers.

The gang — former sheriffs Charlie Simmons, Steve Bruce, Kay Williams and Gov. Mike Parson and current sheriff Danny Morrison  gathered Friday, Dec. 20, at Smith’s Restaurant in Bolivar. According to those in attendance, Polk County is likely the only county in Missouri that can boast five living current and past sheriffs.

During the informal reunion, the governor took time to remark on the part each of these men have played in both his law enforcement and personal life.
