City of Bolivar Animal Pound hosts Home for the Holidays adoption event

Posted

There is no place like home for the holidays, even for our favorite furry friends. That’s why the City of Bolivar Animal Pound is holding an adoption event for the entire month of December.

Throughout December, the pound is offering half price adoptions for all cats and dogs located in the facility.

The normal full price adoption fee for dogs is $40 and includes DAPPv, Bordetella and rabies shots. A half price adoption is $20.

The full price adoption fee for cats is $20 and includes rabies and HCPCH shots. A half price adoption is $10.

During the winter months, the numbers of animals in the pound often reach critical levels.

“We have many dogs and cats in our facility that need to find new homes,” Jennifer Woodall with the City of Bolivar Animal Pound said. “It’s typical for this to happen during the fall and winter, but we hope the community will step in and invite these special animals into their lives and their homes.”

The animal pound staff also encourages pet owners to spay and neuter their animals. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, spaying or neutering pets helps control the pet homelessness crisis.

The City of Bolivar Animal Pound, located at 2002 E. Division St., is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday. The facility will be closed for the holiday from Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Dec. 26. For more information, call 417-328-5896.
