The University of Missouri Extension will host a free farm tax workshop at the Polk County MU Extension Center in Bolivar from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

A recent press release from the University of Missouri Extension said that the purpose of the workshop is to provide farmers and ranchers with up-to-date information about farm and individual tax filings.

Farmers can attend the workshop online via Zoom or in-person at the Polk County MU Extension Center. “Topics include farm income averaging, bonus vs. Section 179 depreciation, income leveling techniques, charitable contributions, weather-related sales of livestock, health savings accounts, like-kind exchanges and 1099s,” the release stated.

MU Extension agriculture business specialist Mary Sobba will also present attendees with helpful resources and updates from the IRS.

Class size is limited for the in-person session, and attendees are asked to register two days prior to the workshop.

Farmers can register for the in-person workshop at mizzou.us/FarmTaxWorkshops2022, email tuckerw@missouri.edu, or call 417-326-4916. To attend the workshop online, register by calling Sobba at 573-581-3231.
