Families new to the Bolivar R-1 School District are invited to the New to Bolivar Tailgate from 5 to 6:45 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14 on the south end of the Southwest Baptist University’s Plaster Stadium.
The free come-and-go event allows families to socialize with student groups, meet local businesses, discover community resources as well as play games and register to win prizes including a 70” TV.
The tailgate takes place prior to the Bolivar High School Liberator football game at SBU’s Plaster Stadium and includes free admission to the game.
While the event is targeted for new families, organizers say all are invited to become more familiar with the school, businesses, and organizations.
“The tailgate was held a few years ago with great success and we wanted to bring it back to help new families feel welcomed as well as acquaint families with what our community has to offer,” says Bolivar R-1 Schools Activities Director Tim Pezzetti. “Being new to the community ourselves, my family is looking forward to meeting with community members and becoming more familiar with local businesses and resources. It’s going to be a fun event, free to all, and a great opportunity for all of us to get better acquainted.”
The tailgate is organized by Bolivar R-1 Schools, Bolivar Area Chamber of Commerce, the City of Bolivar, Polk County Health Center, and Polk County Community Connections.
For more information or to register a business or organization to be at the tailgate, call the Polk County Health Center at 417-326-7250.
