Polk County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted a murder-suicide investigation at a Bolivar residence on Friday, Feb. 3.

According to a press release, the Sheriff’s Office received a death call at around 6:08 a.m.

Deputies responded to the 4700 block of S 172nd Rd. in Bolivar, and upon arrival, they found a 35-year-old deceased male and a 40-year-old deceased female in a bedroom of the residence.

The female suffered four gunshot wounds, and the male subject suffered from one self-inflicted gunshot wound, the release said.

A witness stated the deceased female’s husband from Texas had arrived at the home in the middle of the night. The couple was married but separated at the time.

The investigation is still ongoing, but as the release said, the “preliminary results of the investigation indicate that it was a murder-suicide.” The names of the subjects have not yet been released.

“I encourage anyone who is having suicidal thoughts to contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis lifeline by phone or online at https://988lifeline.org/,” Morrison said in the release. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family.”
