I’ve been referring to this movie as “Hunger Game of Thrones.” It’s a prequel to “The Hunger Games,” but the influence of a certain HBO fantasy series is pretty apparent with the casting of Peter Dinklage and the “Song of Ice and Fire”-like subheading. I’ve seen it as little more than an attempt to combine two franchises that were wildly popular in their 2010’s heyday, but audiences have since left behind, frankly with a bad taste in their mouths after underwhelming finales. more

Bill and Pearlene Breshears were married Nov. 10, 1973, in Neosho, Pearlene's hometown. Their wedding colors were a bright orange and blue. After a few months in Springfield they moved to Bolivar and have been members of the Bolivar community since. more
The Bolivar School District has implemented water testing at each of its buildings this Fall. The tests check for levels of lead in the water as part of the state's "Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water Act." Last year, Missouri passed legislation requiring school drinking water to be tested and action steps to be taken if there are more than five parts per billion (ppb) of lead in the water, which is three times stricter than the Environmental Protection Agency’s standard of 15 ppb. more

Around 70 runners participated in the 3rd Annual Gobblin Hobblin 3/5K Run on Saturday, Nov. 18. This was the first year the Bolivar Parks and Recreation team used a company to officially time the event for the 5K runners. Erron Sharp was the overall winner in the 5K male division, while Liz Kyger was the overall winner in the 5K female division. more
