Christmas is a time for giving, and with the upcoming holiday season upon us, organizations are seeking gift donations. This year, the community can donate stocking stuffers to the specialized care program at Good Samaritan Boys Ranch.

Filing began at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 and the deadline to file is 5 p.m. Dec. 26. File at the central office during regular business hours, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m, (final day for filing we are open until 5 p.m.) The order of filing will be the order on the ballot. Voting is for two spots on the school board.

Zion Lutheran Church had their annual chicken noodle dinner and were proud to be able to share the proceeds with several local charities. The organizations receiving donations were; Community Outreach Ministries, Shop with a Cop, Alpha House, House of Hope, Bolivar Care to Learn and S.O.A.R Bolivar.

In the evolving landscape of nursing education, the significance of clinical partnerships cannot be overstated. They provide nursing students with the opportunity to practice skills learned in the classroom, with real patients, while having oversight and direction. Bolivar Technical College partners with multiple facilities in the area in order to work closely with the potential future employers of their students. Together, they provide a safe and consistent environment for nurse training.

The Polk County University of Missouri Extension will be sponsoring a Beginning Beekeeping Workshop at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11. It will be held at the Polk County Fairgrounds Activities building, 4560 S. 100th Road, Bolivar. There is no charge for the workshop.

When the writers’ and actors’ strikes of 2023 forced several movies off the fall schedule, it was a pair of musicians that came to the rescue with two of the most heavily-promoted concert movies of all time. “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” got the box office through a rough patch back in October. Now comes “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” to get it through early December.
