Routh completes FIC course

Neil J. Routh, Bolivar, a Modern Woodmen of America representative, has attained the Fraternal Insurance Counselor designation.

The FIC title is an educational designation that can be earned by career life insurance representatives associated with fraternal insurance societies.  Representatives devote more than one year to meet the examination and career development criteria set by the Fraternal Field Managers Association.

Founded in 1883, Modern Woodmen of America is a fraternal financial services organization that offers financial products and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the U.S.

Valley named certified arborist

Gary Valley of Girard, Kansas, was recently named the newest ISA certified arborist for Poor Boy Tree Service in Fair Play.

Valley has been an employee of Poor Boy Tree, Inc., since 2014. He gained his Journeyman Utility Arborist title in December 2016 and his ISA Certified Arborist Certification in April 2019.

According to a news release, Poor Boy Tree Service is a line clearance tree service with an apprenticeship program registered through the Department of Labor.

Flower shop to celebrate grand opening

The grand opening of Martha's Flowers will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 11, on Mother’s Day weekend.

A news release said items other than flowers will also be sold at the event.

Martha’s Flowers is located at 205 E. Broadway Street, next door to Miles for Smiles dental clinic.
