Restore 12:12 Ministries, a faith-based organization devoted to supporting young adults in Polk County, held a ribbon cutting event on Friday, Feb. 10 to celebrate the opening of the ministry’s R&R House, a temporary home for people ages 18-25 who are in need of a stable, affordable living arrangement as they overcome challenges in their lives.

George Clark and Martha Buckner Hale were married on March 8, 1963, in Pleasant Hope. They began their life together on the family farm in Polk. There they raised livestock and crops as well as four children, George Hale, Dr. James (Heather) Hale, Mike (Ebbe) Hale, and Susie (Ty) Heavin.

The absentee ballots for the April General Municipal Election will be ready for voting on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The Polk County Clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and open through the lunch hour for absentee voting.

SBU announces the students named to the university’s honor rolls, a distinction given to those who achieve the institution’s highest academic standards. For the fall 2022 semester, 327 students were named to the Trustee’s list, 133 students were named to the President’s Honor Roll, 119 students were named to the Dean’s List, and 247 students were named to the Honor’s list.
