Polk County Community Connections will host its monthly breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at the Polk County Senior Center, 1850 W. Broadway, Bolivar. A free breakfast is provided.

Bolivar Night at the Springfield Cardinals will return on Thursday, June 27, as the Springfield Cardinals face the Arkansas Travelers at 7:05 p.m. Sponsored by the Bolivar Area Chamber of Commerce, the popular annual event has been a chamber tradition since 2004.

The June meeting of the Polk County Genealogical Society will be held on Thursday, June 6, at the Society’s Research Facility on the southeast corner of the square in Bolivar. Tim Ritter will be presenting the program. Ritter is a favorite of the members and does at least one program a year for the Society. This time Ritter will be speaking on the following topic.

“What a wonderful finish to a great year,” said Coach Daniel Bayless, “in fact, this was a record year for our performance at the state level. Bayless has recorded every All-State athlete Bolivar has ever had in Track and Field since MSHSAA started the state competition back in the 1930s. “This year, 2024, tied with 2011 for achieving the most All-State honors. Both years we earned All-State in five events, but in 2011 Bolivar was a Class 3 school. Now we are competing at the class 4 level with bigger schools. Like I said, a record-breaking year.”
