Gene Bolling, 86, of Bolivar passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at his home.

Gene was born Jan. 19, 1933, in Cherryville to Basil and Golden Eaton Bolling. As one of nine children, Gene lived his life by educating himself through hard work. His efforts and determination landed him a job as an airplane mechanic for Boeing, where he spent 37 years. 

Gene was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Bonnie Maudine Bolling, as well as his parents, Basil and Golden Bolling.

Gene is survived by his son, Mike Bolling and wife Linda Doolittle Bolling of Bolivar, and daughter Marlene Price and husband Doug of Bolivar. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael Bolling Jr., Angela Portell, Steven Price and Tyler Price, as well as two stepgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three stepgreat-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother, along with a host of other family and friends. 

Memorial contributions can be made in Gene’s name to Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

A funeral for Gene Bolling was Friday, April 26, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar with visitation an hour prior. Graveside services were at Barren Creek Cemetery.
