CMH to host community blood drive on May 4

Posted

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO) will hold a blood drive at Citizens Memorial Hospital from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 4.

Successful donors will receive a voucher, which they can redeem for two free tickets (valued at $74.00) to one of the following attractions: The Discovery Center in Springfield, Beyond the Lens! in Branson, or The Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville, AR.

“Donors give the gift of life and the opportunity for patients to spend more time with their family creating memories,” CBCO Media Relations Representative Michelle Teter said in a press release. “And this fun promotion offers our lifesavers the opportunity to create memories with their friends and families, as well. We hand-picked these exciting attractions because they have so much to offer, and we can’t wait for our donors to experience it for themselves.”

Blood donors should prepare the day before and the morning of their donation by drinking plenty of water or juice and eating a well-balanced meal.

Donations help preserve and save the lives of local patients. CBCO provides all the blood for patients at Citizens Memorial Hospital, and is the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at 44 area healthcare facilities, the release said.

A photo ID is required upon donating. Walk-ins are welcome, but the appointments are strongly encouraged in order to reduce wait times.
