Easter events coming up

Local churches and organizations are announcing their Easter services, egg hunts, and activities. The public is invited to these community events that are sure to include fun for the whole family.

Friday, April 7

  • Good Friday Service at First Christian: Tim Scott, an elder at First Christian Church, will speak at the church’s 7 p.m. service. The First Christian Church is located at 407 W Broadway St. in Bolivar. For more information, call 417-326-5304.
  • Good Friday Service and Easter Egg Glow Hunt at SBU: The Hill Church will present a Good Friday service from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Mabee Chapel on Southwest Baptist University’s campus. Immediately after the service, an Easter Egg Glow Hunt will be held for kids ages three to 11.

Saturday, April 8

  • JAG’s 2023 Easter Egg Hunt: Families are welcome to join the fun at the Bolivar High School JAG students’ 2023 Easter Egg Hunt. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bolivar Primary School. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Children will get to enjoy fun activities, like face painting, photo booth, family fun races, and pictures with princesses. For more information about the egg hunt, call or text 910-507-0933.

  • Easter Eggstravaganza! Egg Hunt in Humansville: The eighth annual Easter Eggstravaganza will be hosted by the New Beginning Full Gospel Church at the Humansville park. The public is invited to this free community egg hunt. Event registration will begin at 10:30 a.m., and the egg hunt will start at 11:30 a.m. All participating children must be registered to have a chance to win a prize and a new bike. Cotton candy, snow cones, and hotdogs/brats will be available at the event, and children will have the opportunity to enjoy free barrel train rides.   • Easter Egg Hunt in Fair Play: Harvest Assembly will have an Easter Egg Hunt event at 11 a.m. In addition to the egg hunt, the event will feature games, and prizes. Harvest Assembly is located at 329 E Highway 32 in Fair Play.

Sunday, April 9

  • Easter Community Sunrise Service at Bolivar Speedway: Polk County churches are joining together for the fourth annual Community Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. at the Bolivar Speedway. Eddie Lollar, deacon at First Baptist Church and Polk County Cares board member, will give the welcome and opening prayer. Adam Hughes, Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church will deliver the message, and Tom Johnson, pastor of Sling-N-Stones Ministries will give the closing the prayer. This will be an in-person only event; there will be no radio broadcast. The interdenominational service will include prayer, worship led by the Bolivar First Christian Church Youth Band, and a brief message from a few speakers.
  • “Almost Sunrise” Easter Service: Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church will have a service at 7 a.m., followed by an Easter breakfast. All are welcome to attend. The church is located at 1457 E 464th Rd. in Bolivar.
  • Easter Breakfast, Service, and Egg Hunt in Aldrich: The Aldrich Methodist Church will serve breakfast at 8 a.m., and worship service will begin at 9 a.m. Following the service, the church will host an Easter egg hunt with Easter egg piñata festivities. The church is located two miles south of Aldrich on Highway 123. All are welcome. There is an elevator, so attendees will not have to climb steps or move their vehicles.
  • Easter Breakfast at Open Hearts: The Open Hearts United Methodist Church in Bolivar will be serving food to the community at their Easter Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The event is open to all. A worship service will follow at 9:30 a.m. To attend the breakfast, please R.S.V.P. by calling 417-326-4885.
  • Easter Worship Service at First Christian: Bolivar First Christian Church will serve refreshments from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by Easter worship service at 10:30 a.m. This will be the church’s only service on Easter morning. The First Christian Church is located at 407 W Broadway St. in Bolivar. For more information, call 417-326-5304.
  • Easter Service at the Park: The New Hope Church of God welcomes the community to an Easter service at Pavilion #1 in the Dunnegan Memorial Park. The service will begin at 10 a.m., and afterward, lunch will be served. All are welcome.

Saturday, April 15

  • Easter Family Fun Day: The Greater Polk County Farmers Market is inviting the community to their 15-Year Celebration Easter Family Fun Day. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will have a variety of local vendors, as well as small animals, planting activities, and celebration cake and drinks. The farmers market will take place at 320 S Market Ave. in Bolivar.
