Pvt. Spencer Chance, son of Jesse and Melanie Chance of Fair Play, graduated from AIT in Fort Leonard Wood on February 24 with honors. Chance was the only male in his class to qualify for the prestigious award known as the Iron Soldier Award.
The Iron Soldier Award is presented to the most physically fit soldier in the class. Chance displayed outstanding physical strength, stamina, and muscular endurance during the Iron Soldier Physical Fitness event.
"For anyone who thinks that training for the military is easy, it isn't. I worked hard, and I'm grateful for this award and to be able to serve my country," said Chance.
Chance is active in the U.S. Army and will be stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington.
