Grief support program offered to the local community

Posted

The loss of a loved one can have powerful effects on each of us. If you are looking for a caring small group in which to find support, encouragement, and help, then our GriefShare groups might be just the thing you are looking for.

This program is a grief support group that features Christ-centered, biblical teaching that focuses on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one.

GriefShare will be held Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m., starting on Tuesday, May 23. Grief-related books/materials are also made available for participants to borrow.

Each semester contains a total of 13 sessions, but participation can begin with any of the sessions.

The DVD seminar features nationally respected grief experts, counselors, and real-life stories of people just like you, followed by a small group discussion about what was seen on the DVD.

The fact of the matter is that many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines.

Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort, and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend. No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling.

Through this program you will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that you do not need to live in bondage as a slave to certain emotions. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future.

Meetings will take place at Berean Baptist Church in Bolivar, 4450 Scenic Ave. The cost is a recommended one-time donation of $10 to help offset the costs of workbooks and materials.

To register or for questions, call 417-326-7758 or send an email by visiting the church website at www.bbcbolivar.com.
