Motorcyclist dies after fatal wreck in Brighton

A 28-year-old man from Springfield was killed in a two-vehicle wreck near Brighton on Saturday, May 20.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Jordan A. Langdon was traveling westbound in a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R1000K motorcycle on Mo. 215 in Brighton at around 7:59 p.m. when he failed to yield at an intersection and struck an eastbound 2017 Ford Explorer, driven by Thomas A. Smith, 29, of Bolivar.

As the report stated, Langdon was pronounced dead at the scene at around 8:20 p.m. by Dr. Pearl.

No injuries were listed for Smith.

The motorcycle was totaled and towed by B&B Wrecker. Smith’s Ford had extensive damage and was also towed by B&B Wrecker, per the report.

Langdon’s death was Troop D’s 38th fatality for 2023, the report stated. Next of kin has been notified.

Trooper L.H. Crowe, as assisted by Sgt. S.W. Long and crash team Cpl. K.R. Waters, investigated the wreck.
