PD searches for suspect

UPDATE as of 8:15 p.m. Thursday, March 3:  Lt. Roger Barron said further investigation indicated no armed robbery occurred at the store. 

"A 40 to 50 year old black male did go into the store and made a small purchase," Barron said. During the transaction, he was able to 'short change' or confuse the clerk into giving him more money back than he was due." 

Barron said the same suspect went to the nearby Dollar General store where he successfully stole a number of electronic devices, including some cell phones. 

"The man did have a knife on his waist but did not ever display or threaten any employees from either store," Barron said. 

Barron said the suspect is still at large but there is no threat to the public based on the new information received.

The Bolivar Police Department is searching for a suspect following an armed robbery at Sally Beauty Supply on Thursday evening, March 3. 

According to Lt. Roger Barron, officers are looking for a 40 to 50 year old black man wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans. 

The suspect left the store, located at 2270 S. Springfield Ave., on foot, he said.

No one was hurt in the robbery, Barron said.  

Barron said the man may be armed with a knife and asked people to not approach him.
