Polk County Cares Warming Center

Informational Community Meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Polk County Cares Community Center, 404 W. South Street, Bolivar.

Beginning winter 2022, Polk County Cares will be starting a warming center for men during extreme temperatures to provide a warm place for individuals in need in the Polk county area. If you would be interested in supporting or volunteering, please contact Traci Ricman at 417-327-7740 or Deanna Counts at 417-209-2103. 

Volunteering opportunities include:

  • Greeting check-in volunteer.
  • Refreshment volunteer.
  • Evening shift volunteer.
  • Overnight shift volunteer.

Donations needed:

  • Snacks/drinks.
  • Gloves, hats, scarves.
  • Blankets
  • Socks
  • Hand Sanitizer

The warming center will be open Dec. 1 through March 31, 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. Open any night the temperature is below 32 degrees, as volunteers are available.
