The SBU women’s volleyball team completed a two-game weekend conference sweep at home for the first time in three years. This included beating Nationally recognized Rockhurst for the first time since 1987. The historic weekend was capped off with junior Ella Rademaker reaching 1,000 career kills, the first Bearcat to do so since 2010.

Southwest Baptist University teacher candidates toured the Polk County History Museum on Tuesday, 10/29 and heard many interesting stories from Jean Vincent. SBU students created children's activities about various historical artifacts to make a more interactive experience when families or school groups visit the museum.

Friday, Nov. 8, the Downtown Bolivar Association hosted to annual Christmas tree lighting. The square was filled with music, children laughing and having snowball fights, a fire pit, live reindeer, yummy treats and of course, Santa Clause. A fun filled evening for all to welcome in the holiday season.

The National FFA Milk Quality and Products CDE is a competitive event that allows students to prove their knowledge about the recognition, selection, and management necessary for quality milk and dairy products. Participants must complete a written exam on milk production and marketing, evaluate milk samples for flavor and quality, identify cheeses and characteristics, and complete milk acceptability tests in the team activity.

Citizens Memorial Hospital broke ground on the CMH Dialysis Center Thursday, Nov. 7. More than 150 community members were present to celebrate the milestone. The ceremony included several speakers from CMH and the community, along with the ceremonial turning of dirt.

New Growth Transit provides free, volunteer-driven rides for employment, medical appointments, and essential errands. New Growth Transit provides free rides to residents in these west central Missouri counties: Bates, Benton, Camden, Cass, Cedar, Dallas, Henry, Hickory, Laclede, Morgan, Miller, Polk, St. Clair, and Vernon.

Ellie Samek of the Bolivar FFA chapter in Bolivar, was named a national finalist this year in the Social Science category in the Division 3 of the competition. Ellie was a top 10 finalist with the results being announced on stage at the National FFA Convention. Ellie earned 3rd place in the Nation in her agriscience fair, earning a gold rating and $500.
