The City of Bolivar has called for a Special Election on Nov. 4, 2025. Absentee voting will start on Sept. 23, 2025. The Polk County Clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday and open throughout the lunch hour for absentee voting. The deadline for casting an absentee ballot in person at the County Clerk’s office is 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. The County Clerk’s office will also be open on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, from 8 a.m. to noon. more

The Polk County Retired School Personnel meeting will meet Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the CMH senior fitness center. It is the smaller of the two buildings next-door to the Bolivar Aquatic Center at 1815 W. Broadway in Bolivar. Jody Pool, the director, will share information about the center that caters to seniors 55 and over and give a tour of the facility. Bring in a sack lunch if you’d like. Kirsten McGinnis, a 2023 graduate of Marion C. Early High School, has received the Springfield Area Retired Teachers Association Scholarship and the Dorothy Chestnut Harman Elementary Education Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. more
