The Polk County Retired School Personnel meeting will meet Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the CMH senior fitness center. It is the smaller of the two buildings next-door to the Bolivar Aquatic Center at 1815 W. Broadway in Bolivar. Jody Pool, the director, will share information about the center that caters to seniors 55 and over and give a tour of the facility. Bring in a sack lunch if you’d like. The One Banner concert will be presented at 7 pm on Friday, Sept. 12, at First Baptist Church of Bolivar. This is the seventh year of this multi-Church Choir Worship Event. The concert features over 150 voices and an orchestra of over 50+ from around the Ozarks. Admission is free; a Love Offering will be taken.

Just eleven days into the 2025 tennis season, the Lady Liberators have already logged a dozen matches including an interstate tournament and two days of quad duals with two more full day tournaments set for this week. Coming off a Class 1 State runner-up finish last fall, Bolivar returns four of six starters while looking to fill the gap left by the graduation of Sofia Smashey and Stella Scowden.

The 2025 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) in Polk County MO offered free, nutritious meals to children 18 and under from July 9 through Aug. 15. The program, funded by the USDA, purchased food products through Ozarks Food Harvest and Community Outreach Ministries to provide meals. In addition to the financial support through SFSP, ToRCH funding from Citizens Memorial Hospital provided for supplemental food expenses and supply costs. Through these partnerships and funding the effort served 6036 meals during the six-week period to children and adults throughout the county.

Bearcat Football crosses into strange territory as there is a new leader at the helm for the first time in over 10 years. The winningest coach in program history, Robert Clardy, stepped down from the head coaching role, opening the position up to a new up and comer across the Midwest. After consecutive highly successful seasons, Head Coach Paul Hansen steps up from NAIA to Division II, to lead the Bearcats.
