Halfway elementary students and Youth at Good Samaritan Boys Ranch have enjoyed hands-on lessons about agriculture during enrichment programming this summer. The school and ranch partnered with Missouri Farmers Care’s Agriculture Education on the Move™ (Ag Moves) to provide students with ten foundational lessons on agriculture topics, teaching students that their food comes from farms and the products used in everyday life come from agriculture. These lessons also made a difference in the life of Ag Moves Educator, Josie Toombs, as she helped Halfway’s future consumers make connections to their food, fuel, fibers and farmers today, as well as Ag Moves Educator, Velynda Cameron, as she helped future consumers living at the ranch make these connections.

A friend of mine and his 12-year-old son went crappie fishing the other day. They were up before daylight and headed out to Dad’s favorite place to go crappie fishing. It was the first time he had taken his son fishing. Dad was always too busy or took his friends instead of his son.

With Zack Snyder’s version of the DC Universe having officially fizzled out, Warner Bros. is trying a hard reboot of the multi-faceted superhero franchise under the direction of James Gunn. First up for Gunn is “Superman,” with actor David Corenswet stepping into the role of space alien Kal-El/mild- mannered reporter Clark Kent/blue-suited metahuman Superman. Corenswet is a good fit for the role, as he unflinchingly nails the character’s strength and stoicism, as well as his unrelenting moral dedication and occasionally-naïve optimism. His mere casting is the first good decision by Gunn, getting the movie (and thus, the series) off on the right foot.
