Kellsey Warden, a 31-year-old Bolivar woman, sustained serious injuries from a two-car accident on Sunday, April 21 at 5:40 p.m. Warden was driving a 2017 Dodge Journey near the intersection of Hwy J and Hwy F in Laclede County. She did not yield after stopping at the stop sign and was struck by a 2011 Lincoln MKX, driven by a 17-year-old female from Montreal. Both drivers were wearing safety devices and no injuries were reported for the juvenile female. Warden was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The totaled Lincoln was towed by Bledsoe’s. The Journey, also totaled, was removed by C&S Towing. The responding officers were Trooper D.R. Willhite, Master Sergeant J.J. McDonald, and Corporal G.S. Sloan. more

The Bolivar Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual golf tournament on Friday, April 19, at Silo Ridge Country Club. Between a morning tee time and an afternoon tee time over 40 teams participated. This year they enjoyed the day with lots of sunshine and a brisk and chilly breeze, but unlike years past no hail or sleet welcomed them on the course.  more
Southwest Baptist University hosted a 19-team class 4-5 boys and girls high school track meet on Monday, April 22. more
When the soccer Lady Liberators last met the Lady Bulldogs in Rolla during the 2023 season, they were on the receiving end of a 1-9 loss. Playing host to this conference opponent last Tuesday, April 16, Bolivar was looking for some redemption. In their fifth game in as many days, the Lady Liberators battled fatigue in addition to their on-field challengers. Bolivar fought to stay competitive in the first half keeping Rolla out of the goal but was unable to control possession and convert shots themselves. more

Halfway Missionary Baptist Church will hold homecoming services Sunday, April 28. Regular services starting at 10 a.m., preaching at 11 a.m. by Bro. Donnie Lane, followed by lunch. Viles Family singing in the afternoon. Everyone is welcome. more
The Polk County Genealogical Society (PCGS) will once again be offering the service of placing flowers on graves for Memorial Day. Orders may be made through May 3. The choices will be either a small spray placed by the stone or a saddle placed over the top of the stone. The cost for the saddle is $50 and the bouquet is $20. Deliveries can be made to cemeteries in Polk County. more
