The Rooted Schoolhouse is a faith-based condensed-class school located on a farm in Bolivar, Missouri. They currently have 15 students enrolled, with smaller class sizes allowing them to focus on each child's learning experience. According to Jessie Cowden, an owner and educator at the Rooted Schoolhouse, the school's mission is to prepare students for school and life in general.
“Our mission is to nurture the whole child by combining academic excellence with hands-on
learning while intentionally preserving childhood," said Cowden. “Guided by faith-based values, we strive to equip children with the knowledge, character, and practical life skills they need to thrive in school and in life.”
Schooling here involves more than being at a desk all day. Instead, students get hands-on experience working with animals on the farm, gardening, and homesteading. Students learn a faith-based curriculum, while still being a part of rigorous academics.
“We want people to know that The Rooted Schoolhouse is about preparing children for life, not
just tests,” said Cowden. “We are committed to providing a rigorous education while helping students develop character, responsibility, a strong work ethic, and practical life skills in a Christ-centered, hands-on learning environment.”
The Rooted Schoolhouse is now accepting pre-registration applications, and you can find more information about their school at their website https://therootedschoolhouse.com/.
