Man Drowns in Stockton Lake

A 60-year-old man died in Cedar County on Tuesday, Aug. 30, near Orleans Trail Cove at
Stockton Lake.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol drowning report stated that John G. Gray, of Fort Scott,
Kansas, was last spoken to at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, and the circumstances of his drowning
are unknown.

According to the report, Gray was pronounced dead at the scene at around 2:44 p.m. by Cedar
County deputy coroner Frank Brumfield, and was transported to Brumback Funeral Home in
Stockton.

Gray’s death was Troop D’s 16th drowning of the year, per the report.

Trooper M.R. Young is continuing to investigate the drowning.
