It isn’t too late to make plans to attend the annual Dancing With The Stars, Saturday, April 8 at Bolivar High School. General admission tickets are still available at the door, or contact your favorite dance team. The dancers are ready to wow the crowd while raising money to benefit all four high school classes. A fun night is planned, besides getting to enjoy some great entertainment, there will be a variety of food to choose from, and a photo booth to have fun with. Come and cheer on your favorite team of dancers. more

The April Polk County Community Connections breakfast meeting will feature a report on Polk County’s youth, presented by Ben Salmon, Polk County KLIFE Executive Director. In addition to Salmon’s updates on county youth, there will be time for each health pillar task team to meet to assess needs and set goals. The meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, April 6 in the community room at Citizens Memorial Hospital, 1500 N Oakland, Bolivar. A free breakfast is provided. more

The Polk County Genealogical Society (PCGS) is once again offering the service of placing flowers on graves for Memorial Day. Orders may be made through May 1, 2023. The choices for flowers will be either a small spray placed by the stone or a saddle placed over the top of the stone. The cost for the saddle is $50 and the bouquet is $20. Deliveries can be made to cemeteries in Polk County. more
The Polk County Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting tomorrow, Thursday, April 6. The speaker for the evening will be Jim Hamilton, former editor of the Bolivar Herald-Free Press and the Buffalo Reflex. Hamilton continues to write columns for the Herald-Free Press and the Reflex. more

On Monday, March 27, Governor Mike Parson attended a joint meeting of the Bolivar Memorial DAV Chapter 66 and Auxiliary. During his remarks he shared thoughts and insights from a governor’s perspective, and some of the highlights and bumps encountered along the way during his tenure as Missouri’s chief executive. His presentation was heartfelt and greatly enjoyed by his fellow DAV members. more
